The most common excuse is “I’m too old” we recently posted a blog about this topic so check that out after you read this!
Today we talk about wondering if it’s too late to start chiropractic care.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying if you don’t use it you lose it, we often refer to this statement back to our bodies. It’s very true, because if you aren’t moving and staying active then your muscles will tighten and make it more difficult for you to move with ease.
We recently had a patient come into our practice who believed they had waited too long to seek help for their significant back pain and they had ‘learned to live with it’. They were in their 80s and this was something they had been dealing with for the past 10-15 years! This began to take take a toll on their day-to-day life and decided they needed to do something to help it.
The pain went from occasionally restricting them from doing things, and now affecting basic things like getting out of bed, doing the dishes, and the laundry but more importantly they were unable to enjoy their time with the grandkids.
The last thing a grandparent wants is to feel like they can’t keep up with their grandkids especially as it brings so much joy to them playing with them.
Upon coming into the clinic their overall goal was to be able to get down on the ground and play Lego with the kids however the pain they had been experiencing for years wasn’t allowing them to do that. In fact, their grandkids would even comment to them and say, “you can’t do that can you”.
Now in this particular instance, there was a solution to their problem. Yes, it was a long-term solution and did require some effort on their behalf but in the end, we started a chiropractic care plan and so far so good! They are still improving.
We talked about exercises to help and looked at a timeline of having the ability to lessen the pain they experienced and set some goals in place.
If you think you are someone who has experienced back pain, neck pain, headaches, or migraines for an excessive amount of time and believe your problems can’t be fixed, come into the clinic for an assessment and we can speak about how we can help you.
We will provide you with a diagnosis of what has been causing the pain you’ve been experiencing, and follow up with the best ways to manage this.
We will also let you know if we believe it’s not something we can help with and will refer you to the appropriate health professional whom we believe is the best for your case.
Please don’t let your pain progressively get worse over an extended period because the longer you do leave it, the harder it is to ‘fix’ the issue.
We want to help you have the best quality of life possible, and ensure that you can play that game of golf you’ve been hanging to play for years without pain or simply run around in the yard with your kids and build lego down on the floor with your grandchildren.
It is best to seek health advice if you are experiencing any pain or discomfort before it’s too late.
If you or someone you know is constantly complaining about pain they are experiencing, have them contact the clinic and we can get them booked in for an assessment and get to the root of the cause before it’s too late.
We don’t want you to learn to live with it, we want you to be able to live without it.
