My patient said “My GP told me my pain, problem will go away on its own and with medication”
My patient of course followed their GP’s advice but taking medications such as pain killers and muscle relaxers didn’t work and they still had their problem/ pain. In fact it got worse.
I know those who have watched Chiro Couch episodes before have heard me say this.
Medications do not fix structural problems Medications cannot align your spine for you!
They are only masking the symptoms of your problem and not treating the cause of them?
It’s a short-term solution with potentially long-term consequences
When you start to take medications, you may start to feel better, it’s a false feeling because your pain receptors are being inhibited. It may reduce inflammation, But inflammation is there for a reason it’s your body trying to heal and if you stop your body from healing….. what’s the point?
The other problem is that your body will get used to the pain needing medication but what happens when you stop taking the meds?
Your pain and symptoms come back? This can turn into never ending cycle UNLESS you find out the actual cause of your problem.
So in saying that, what should you do?
Firstly, Not all GPs recommend medication for physical problems, some GPs refer to chiropractors like me to have your problem fixed.
Rather than taking medications first, you should seek out the cause of your problem/ pain.
If you don’t fix your problem it’ll keep coming back
Secondly, If you haven’t corrected your problem the problem could get worse and you don’t want that.
Lastly, I have had patients come and see me have been dealing with their problem for over 20 years. They got used to having the problem they had learnt to live with it but it kept getting worse. I don’t want that for you and I want you to get on top of the problem sooner than later because it’s much easier to fix before it becomes chronic. Degenerated. Or too late to fix his chiropractic or drugs and now you need surgery
