Scoliosis is a condition where the spine deviates from its normal curvature. The word scoliosis stems from the Greek language and means bent. On x-rays the spine of scoliosis patients can look like an “S” or “C” shape, rather than a straight line. Scoliosis varies from mild to severe cases and is more commonly found in women. Good news is that longterm chiropractic care can help reduce the curvature of scoliosis. The latest research about adult scoliosis patients receiving chiropractic rehabilitation, shows that chiropractic care is very beneficial and minimises back pain, headaches and curvature of the spine. Mark W. Morningstar as published in the journal of Chiropractic Medicine found that “after completion of a multimodal chiropractic rehabilitation treatment, a retrospective cohort of 28 adult scoliosis patients reported improvements in pain, Cobb angle, and disability immediately following the conclusion of treatment and 24 months later.”

If you suspect that you or your child may have scoliosis make sure to come and see us in our Wellness Centre in Robina. Dr Andrew Kaltenbach at Robina Chiropractic Wellness Centre has a keen interest in this field. He understands when scoliosis should be monitored and when treated. He knows when it should be referred or if spinal scoliosis rehab, bracing or surgery is the best approach. Patients with scoliosis are very likely to have multiple Spinal Subluxations. Chiropractic can significantly reduce the symptoms caused by these subluxations to minimise nervous system disturbances. Dr Andrew Kaltenbach will work hard to try and reduce the degree of the scoliosis curve using adjustments as well as spinal rehab, using Chiropractic Biophysics treatments with Denneroll Spinal Orthotics.
