Today I wanted to talk to you about goal setting.
Being the new year it’s a great time to reflect back on 2020 – even though none of us could have imagined what was in store for us with that year.
Anyway onto a fresh start, so I’m sure you have all set goals before and you’re probably thinking why am I talking about this.
Well have you ever started a fresh list of goals you wanted to achieve, written them down and then…… nothing???
I know I’ve done that before but I have a method to my goal setting and I find it a lot easier to manage and actually achieve them using this simple method.
- Set a Goal that motivates you!!!!
You have to set a goal that you are motivated about.
Something you want to do and desire to get done.
A good way to see if this goal means something to you is to write down the ‘WHY’ why do you want to achieve it? Why is this important etc ?
2. Have you heard of setting SMART goals?
Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Relevant. Time Bound.
Specific – you goal must be clear and well defined.
Measurable – you have to set precise amounts or dates, you need to be able to measure the success and celebrate them when you do.
Attainable – Make sure your goals are possible to achieve.
Having a goal of becoming a millionaire by the end of the year isn’t attainable. Unless you know something I don’t???
Relevant – Your goals should be relevant to the direction you want you life or work career to be heading.
Time Bound – Your goals must have a deadline and again make this achievable.
- Write them down – my family and I make a vision board and we have it in our house so we are constantly looking at them.
- Make an Action plan. How are you going to achieve these?
- Stick with it. – goal setting is an ongoing activity, if you get off track that doesn’t man give up. That’s means get back up and start again. Sometimes you wont even have to start at the very beginning again.
Anyway hope these tips are helpful and I would love to hear your goals for 2021.
