I wanted to chat to you about the 3 biggest mistakes I see people making when they have neck pain.
This is a very common problem for people and I want to help you improve this.
- The most common issue is people’s posture or their forward head posture.
The normal posture for people’s neck is if their ears are positioned directly above the shoulders, their chest is open and their shoulders are back. What we commonly see these days is ‘forward head posture’ This is when the head is in front of the shoulders this causes stress on the neck and your cervical spine has to support the weight this causes.
If you have forward head posture, your muscles in your shoulders and back are having to work harder to compensate.
- The second mistake I see is using medication to suppress the pain/strain on their neck or headache instead of finding the cause of their problem. By using medication, we aren’t treating the cause and long term this can cause other health problems for you.
- Correct diagnosis and doing the correct exercises.
- The third thing I see is when they don’t have a proper diagnosis for their problem or they aren’t doing the exercises we have prescribed for them. This is something we go over at the beginning of your care. And again, throughout your care when we reassess you and re-Xray you.
